Yea, I don't believe it either.

One of these 100M dollar contracts are going to be a horrible mistake. I'm not sure I want the O's being that team.

Sure the money will be bigger but the reward ratio is much higher then those other players I mentioned.

Give me a boom bust guy over a 1.5 WAR plough horse.

It wasn't a 100M contract but I think the Red Sox are the first ones to overpay for a Cuban player and get the bad contract. The scouts seem more universal about Tomas.

I believe that Tomas has no position other than DH. From all the reports I've read, the guy has crazy power, and has shown to be a good hitter, but he can't play the field. He figures to get more than Castillo, and I don't think the O's are going to spend 80-100M dollars on a DH.

Puig was "only" 40m (for 7 years). Still a big risk but nowhere near $100m. So far the recent Cuban signings have met or exceeded expectations. If we could get 7 years of the next Puig for the price of 4 years of Markakis, that would be a no brainer.

Puig has some red flags, not just out of the game, either. The guy had 4 HR's and 17 RBI's after the AS Break, he may well bust after all.

Puig has been worthy 4 and 5 wins in his two years, and demonstrated improvement in a lot of areas (such as o-swing, walk rate, etc.). He could have his arms amputated tomorrow and he'd be worth his deal.

    • Well, the Jays didn't lose the next 2... Splitting four after starting 2-0 sucks. But I will note that the past two matchups were their top two arms this year, vs our current #5/6 guys, in their park. It was never that favorable for the clean sweep even though they looked awful on Mon/Tue. Onto Tampa, who just reached .500 for the first time in a few weeks, and has the benefit of only playing two Miami games since we last saw them Sunday.
    • Played at an outdoor concert festival 100 ft from my house in 2015. As did Sir Mix-a-Lot.
    • I'm not trying to knock Grayson, just pointing out that I don't agree his presence in the rotation gives the Orioles the top 3 starters in baseball.  The Yankees are not the best either imo, just a comparison point.  The Phillies may be the best -- their top 4 are probably better than the O's top 3.  But mainly I was pointing out Bradish's arm being a concern.  If he becomes unavailable for awhile the O's suddenly look uncompetitive to the point that making the playoffs may not be a foregone conclusion.  That's why the O's could maybe use another starter.  If Bradish is not available for the postseason then we're probably as good as done.
    • You only really need your 3 best SPs in a 7-game series. So the Yankees have Cole and some other solid pitchers.  Gil has never thrown more than 100 innings in his career - including the minors - so you can safely count him out for the playoffs.  I'd take Grayson over every Yankee pitcher that will most likely be available in the playoffs except for Cole. And Cole, like Bradish, is coming off a significant injury which could easily knock him back out for the season.
    • Hays has shown multiple times that he's not a good player when tolerating/dealing with injuries.
    • I’m not sure if this is what you’re talking about, but the 2pm show on 105.7 did a Pham segment with an AI voiced Tommy Pham. I rarely listen to their show anymore, but this was maybe the worst thing I’ve listened to. It was frankly embarrassing.  The jist of the segment was they all wanted to trade for Pham. I get it, it’s radio, gotta get people to tune in. The two old guys are awful, but I feel bad for the younger producer getting dragged along.
